Public Offerings is a series of tapestries based on images of Indonesian public visual culture, centred around electrical poles. The electrical pole is a monument. A place of worship, illegal wifi cables and solutions for your clogged toilet or sketchy clowns for your kids’ birthday parties. The pole becomes a hub for these acts of public offerings, forcing their way into the visual landscape of the city.
The presence of toilet sucking ads, parasitical electrical cable chaos and offerings to the divine are symptoms of essential public equality, a public sphere that exists for and is made by the public. These works feature public nuisances that became silent icons for the resistance of city authorities.
