BIO

Kira Saragih (she/her) is an artist and arts worker based on the unceded territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as Vancouver, BC. Drawing inspiration from her hometown, Jakarta, Indonesia, she makes work about common everyday objects and spaces that contribute to community-making in underappreciated ways. Her artistic practice extends into her work within artist-run centres, where she sees arts administration as a form of cultural labor rooted in care, fueled by friendship and guided by intentional decision making.

She is the founding member of ANTS/ASS (Artist Nurturing Thoughts and Skills / Alternative Support System), a multidisciplinary collective of emerging and student artists committed to long-term care, group assembly, and friendship as practice. She is also part of Nusahaus, an emerging-collective grounded in community building work for the Nusantara diaspora community.

Her work has been shown at the Audain Gallery (Vancouver), Liquidation World (Vancouver), and Taman Ismail Marzuki (Jakarta). She holds a BFA from Simon Fraser University.
